Storage

Is there enough time to do your own packing?

If you're doing your own packing, please mark clearly on the top of the box so the removal team can see which room to put the box in , also for your reference you may want to mark on the side of the box to give an indication of the items inside the box, please use a marker pen, Eg B1, B2, B3, 9 ( B Meaning Bedroom ) Kitchen /Garage /Lounge.
  • Liquids – Please mark 'this way up'
  • Fragile Items - Please mark 'Fragile'
  • Essential Items, please mark 'Ess' even if you're putting some boxes in your car they are easier to locate this way.
Handy tips -  if your using our boxes on the bottom of the box close the 4 open flaps, largest size last then on the longest open slit place 3 runs of Sellotape then either side with the slit put 1 run of tape each side this is the same principle if your using our small to medium box/ large box /wardrobe box. I will demonstrate this if you require me to do so.

What items do you put in a small/medium box?

  • Glasses
  • China
  • Cups
  • Plates
  • Tins
  • Books
How to pack glasses - use paper, stand upright, especially if the glasses are fine crystal or fluted. In some cases you may use bubble wrap if the glasses are very fine and heavy crystal or moulded glass. Plates are strongest on their side, use paper to wrap each one. Tins and food are more straight forward. Tins first then other food. Books are best packed facing down one on top of the other. Do not pack upright as it may damage the spine of the books.

What items do you put in a large box?

  • Pots and pans
  • Trays
  • Microwave, toaster and food mixer
  • Pictures
  • Lamps and vases
  • Music centre and small TVs
  • Duvet
  • Linen and clothes
  • Games
How to pack pots and pans - put paper around them.
Microwave - bubble wrap glass dish inside.
Wrap your toaster in paper.
Wrap your food mixer in paper.
Pictures, lamps, vases, music centres, small TVs- be careful to protect your TVscreen. Face the screen towards the side of the wall of the box. Its wise to take shades off lamps if they are too large for the box with the shade attached to lamp.
Duvets, linen, clothes and board games usually don’t require packaging.

We also have wardrobe boxes to hang your clothes in. In most cases we use our fixed hanging clothes rail set in our lorry, where we simply take your hanging clothes out of your wardrobes and hang them in our lorry. This is usually a more convenient method of transporting your clothes. We respect that the choice is yours whichever way you feel most happy with is important to us.
Full packing service

Our packing services include:

  • Full packing service
This is usually done by two persons depending on the size of the job. This will be a fixed price based upon quote after a survey of your house.
  • Part packing, two persons
This is also done by two persons with a minimum charge of £250 for 5 hours and then £50 is charged per hour after that. On average, this will be enough time to pack most of the items in a 3-bed house along with the kitchen items, fragile items and pictures.
  • Part packing, 1 person
This is done by 1 person only, with a minimum charge of £150 for 5 hours, and then £30 is charged per hour after that. This will be enough time to pack the kitchen of an average 3-bedroom house or most fragile household items.
  • Unpacking service
This is usually done the day after your removal or can be done a few days later according to your convenience. It is very important that there is at least the same storage space to unpack your items into as in your previous home that we moved you out of. If there is less storage space in your new home, please do inform us in advance, so that we can plan our services accordingly. We usually say approximately 10 mins on average per box as some items may be fine glass.
